Our Physical Education curriculum is designed to:

Deliver a broad curriculum with personalised pathways (GCSE PE and Sport Science) which enhance subject knowledge and allow all students to make progress and be successful in reaching their full potential.
Offer sequenced learning, where KS3 provides a foundation of knowledge on which KS4 pathways are built to make progress.
Promote lifelong participation by developing an understanding of healthy, active lifestyles.
Offer a range of extracurricular opportunities that engage and inspire, so that students enjoy physical activity and have opportunities to represent Halewood Academy in competitions across Knowsley and Merseyside.

We aim to do this by:

Providing the consistently high quality teaching and opportunities for learning
Delivering a wide range of sports and activities
Promoting a love of physical activity and healthy lifestyles

What do we expect learners to get from studying Physical Education?

Lessons that inspire and interest students leading to enjoyment and rapid progress over time.
A understanding of Physical education topics which cover emotional, physical and social aspects of the world of Sport.
Students become confident and competent in a range of sports and activities.
Students will chose to take part in physical activity beyond the school setting.
Students develop leadership, organisation and communication skills to effectively work with others.
Students develop an understanding, and a strong sense of responsibility, for their health and physical fitness.
Students will understand how academic success in Physical Education subjects can lead to exciting career opportunities.
