Careers Event Success

Halewood Academy played host to an incredibly successful careers event in January, helping more than 350 students make plans for their future.  Mrs MacCallum gave us a summary of the day.

"Halewood Academy played host to an incredibly successful careers event in January, helping more than 350 students make plans for their future.

Over 40 colleges, universities and employers such as Redrow and Arriva attended the event and spent time with the students, giving them invaluable advice on how to become ‘work-ready’ and plan for their future careers.

This was a fantastic event – a real demonstration that innovative, interactive learning does not have to be confined to the classroom. Watching the energy and enthusiasm of the students as they discussed their futures was really inspiring.

I know the students have come out of the event with new ideas, and an even greater determination to make them a reality. I would like to sincerely thank every business, college and university who attended the event and made it such a huge success.

Employers rated the event as ‘excellent’, and particularly praised the behaviour and how well prepared the students are for their future."

Quotes from exhibitors:

Both Gareth and I would like to thank you for inviting us to the Careers event. The event ran very smoothly, there was a constant flow of students accessing the different organisations. There were a number of staff members available to assist both the students and the organisations. The behaviour of the students was excellent, they were very respectful of the organisations who were there for their benefit.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Halewood Academy this week.  I found the pupils to be very engaging and in particular the year 11’s seemed very well prepared for when they leave Halewood Academy.

It was also great to see so many employers attend as a lot of careers fairs I have attended seem to focus on colleges and further education providers.

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital

I can imagine the stress you went through, especially if it was your first event- well done! It was amazing, I enjoyed it very much. I also met some of my future work experience students so that was nice. All students did behave very well.

Megan and Liam ( Graduate Trainees) really enjoyed the day, the students seemed very enthusiastic.

It was a very good event and you should be proud of your students, they were interested and behaved very well.  You should also be proud of yourself for your 1st attempt was excellent and believe me I have been to many others that were not so well organised.

Really good turnout for both Companies attending and students taking part.
